Fact 1: Athena was born the daughter Zeus and Metis. Zeus was the god of the ski who technically gave birth to Athena from his forehead because he ate his first wife Metis who was pregnant with Athena. Athena was the only born child of both Zeus and Metis. Her father had 48 children total. Zeus ate Metis because other gods told him that his first-born son of his wife was going to over throw his kingdom. Well the child ended up being Athena rather then a boy
Fact 2: The reason Athena changed Medusa from the only mortal Gorgon sister who was very beautiful, into who she was, was because Medusa had offended her at one point in her life. What happened was Athena liked Posdien, but Posiden liked Maeusa. He tried to rape Medusa and Athena felt that it was Medusa idea. Therefor she turned her from the beautiful woman she was into the snake haired woman that she then was. So that no matter who looked at her they turned to stone.
Fact 3: The reason that Athena is sometimes referred to as Pallas Athena is because she had a best friend named Pallas when she was younger. Athena had accidentally wounded her in the arm, which lead to her death. Therefor Athena had taken her name in remembrance of her friend and how she was so sorry.
Fact 4: Zeus is Athena’s father from birth she was given the title of the goddess of the wisdom and war. She lived on Mt. Olympus
Fact 5: Athena and Poseidon got into a dispute over who the new city would be named after. To settle this dispute, whoever could offer the most valuable gift, would have the city named after them. Athena struck her spear on the ground and an olive tree was made. She also has the Owl which she got because the Owl always sat on he shoulder and never in her hand.
Fact 6: Athena had went through the judgment of Paris with Hera Zeus wife and Aphrodite the goddess of love beauty and desire. They wanted to see who was the fairest goddess. Aphrodite had taken that.
Fact 7: Athena is the favorite child of her father Zeus. Do to her being his favorite he gave her access to his thunderbolt and battle gear.
Fact 8: Athena wasn’t known for losing her temper very often. Theres really only one story where she loses it to the max. this was when Aranche the mortal who thought she was a better weaver then Athena challenged her to see who really was the better weaver. She wasn’t mad that she challenged her but she was mad at the fact that Aranche weaved a picture of Athena’s father Zeus cheating on Hera.
Fact 9: Minerva is the equivalent Roman goddess to Athena. Minerva and Athena have the same attributes. That’s why they are equivalent.
Fact 10: Athena had many nicknames one of which was goddess of crafts. The reason she was given this nickname was because she was very good with weaving, pottery, goldsmiths, sculpting and music.
